Loved Completely

“At my first defense no one came to stand by me, but all deserted me. May it not be charged against them! But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me” (2 Tim 4:16-17a)

I’ll never forget the feeling of heart break I experienced when a friend I considered my closest and most special, turned her back on me and shut me out of her life. It was an experience I hope I never go through again. And, even though it has been well over a decade since, there are moments when my confidence fades and old feelings and insecurities rise to the surface. Lonely moments, when my feelings overtake my heart and I start to listen to their lies. The whole experience made me feel unloved and like there was something in essence wrong with me. The feelings of hurt were so overpowering! But, feelings can be such liars.

None of us are immune from the desire to want to be completely loved, nor are we immune to the pain of being abandoned or pushed aside. But, the true fulfillment of this love can not be found in friends or spouses. The fulfillment is found in Jesus Christ alone! People will always let us down, because we are all sinful and broken.

Remember these truths. Even if we are abandoned, hurt or mistreated by people in our lives, God will never desert us! We are perfectly and completely loved by Him! When our feelings start to whisper insecurities, stand firm in who you are in Christ! When we feel lonely, remember who abides in you. When we feel unimportant or left out, remember you were important enough to die for and have been included in God’s amazing story and plan to show His love to the world! Take strength and comfort dear sisters, in the secure and loving arms of our God! Our worth, identity and purpose are not meant to be shouldered on friends, spouses, accomplishments or children but rather firmly planted in the rock that is our God! What a relief! In a world where everything changes, one thing always remains the same! Jesus and his love for us!

  1. This is so comforting Mary as we go through life! It’s truly something we need to depend on! How amazing that we can have such a special relationship with the King of Kings who walked this earth so we can know He can relate to the situations we go through and be our peace, our salvation and mediator and so much more! We are so very blessed and must not take it for granted! Thank you so much! Pat Schaeffer
